Last weekend we all drove down South for Grandpa Swanson's 92nd birthday. It was nice to have everyone together and see how excited all of the relatives are to see everyone from Bakersfield. While we were there, Carly pulled herself up to stand for the first time. At 7 months. Yeah, I know. So, consequently, we have since lowered her bed mattress. I feel like that is one of the first signs toward leaving babyhood. She's just growing up so fast. Back to the topic though...The birthday was fun and we had some great food and fellowship.
This week, we have Grandy's birthday. A playgroup or two. MOPS. Oh and we are going to try and squeeze in a trip to the coast this weekend. Ought to be fun.
Halloween is coming up and my original plan was for the kiddos to be Bam Bam and Pebbles from The Flintstones. Well, I have Connor's Bam Bam costume all made, but before I could get Carly's done, I found Connor's Turtle costume from last year. Yes, this one...
Ok, so he likes to eat bark. What kid doesn't? Haha
Anyway, I found it in our closet and got all Sentimental Journey on it. Yes, you guessed it, Carly is going to be a turtle. BUT I plan on adding some bows and pink to it to girly it up. Ohhhh I can't wait. :o)
Our house is still on the market and no one is interested. Not a soul. Oh well, we tried I guess. Although it is really a bummer we don't have the opportunity to move. As I am sitting at our dining room table right now, our neighbors tv is so loud that I can hear he is watching Aladdin. Lord knows I can't open a window on his side of the house. Our houses are so close together and it doesn't help that our windows line up with each other. The least the home builders could have done was to offset them.
We went to Murray Family Farms last weekend and picked our own pumpkins out of a pumpkin patch. Connor had a great time, as did Carly.
(this is where I want to insert a pic from the farm...you know a really cute one with the kids in front of pumpkins, however, Justin loaded them onto the computer and then hid them in a file somewhere)
So, I am going to substitute said pumpkin picture, with a pic of Connor is our backyard with a mushroom that he discovered and a gnome that wanted its picture taken with it.
Yes, he does have really short hair and I like it that way. I don't have to worry about messy hair. Grandma cuts it for him and he sits really still for her. It's a win win.
Update on the kiddos:
Connor is two. Have I mentioned that before? Cause in case you forgot, he acts like a two year old. He is into everything! He still loves Cars and matchbox cars. He is still awesome with his little sister. He even sings a lullaby to her in the car when she gets fussy. He loves jelly beans and we have been using them randomly as rewards whenever we feel he does something outstanding. (Although he does ask for them after he does something nice, thinking that he should be rewarded, we give them to him on OUR terms).
Carly is growing more and more everyday. She crawls like a champ now. No more scooting for her. She sits up like its old hat and she pulls up on things, although she is very wobbly. She still eats like a horse. Oh and her formula was recalled because of the possibility of beetle parts in it. Lovely. We had to switch to liquid formula, which she doesn't spit up as much, but is harder to pack places cause it has to stay cold. So yes, my daughter is high maintenance already.
**Connorisms**
~ As of late, whenever Connor will ask a question that he should know the answer to, such as " What color is that car?" and I tell him red, he responds with: "Red. That's right. That's right." Hilarious
~ Oh and how a person would use the word 'cool' to describe somthing, he uses the word 'huge'. "Mom, that hit (baseball), was HUGE!"
